The Department of Lifelong Faith Formation of the Diocese of Buffalo, under the leadership of Bishop Edward Kmiec, facilitates the creation and implementation of curriculum guidelines for elementary and adolescent faith formation. Consistent with the standards and mandates of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, these curriculum guides strive to provide parishes and schools a helpful way to strengthen systematic and comprehensive catechesis.

Each of the guides, including the parish and school elementary religion curriculum, the curriculum guidelines for Adolescent Catechesis and Confirmation Preparation, and the Sexual Abuse Awareness program have all been approved for use in all parishes and school faith formation programs in the Diocese of Buffalo.
